For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a pencil in my hand.
All I wanted to do was draw characters and make comic books. When I reached high school, a lot of the kids around me suggested that I should get into animation – I couldn’t have agreed more. I really wanted to become an animator but I didn’t have a reason why. It wasn’t until I went to art school when that reason found me and hit me hard. I realized that the audience believes these made up characters are real, with emotions and stories. It was an animator who had to craft every movement, blink and emotion. This is why I love this medium – it has an effect on the audience emotionally. It really is magical watching the characters you’ve crafted move on screen and have a connection with the audience. It’s an awesome feeling.
